Stamford is a small rural town (roughly 800 residents) in the far southeast corner of Bennington County with no town recreation department and no youth sports league of its own; the town plan notes local playing fields see regular informal youth use. Stamford tuitions its secondary students to Drury High School in North Adams, Massachusetts under a long-standing agreement, and organized youth sports for Stamford families run through Northern Berkshire County, MA-based regional programs. Northern Berkshire Youth Baseball and the Northern Berkshire Youth Hockey League both explicitly advertise service to Southern Vermont; no soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, or other youth sports organization was found that names Stamford as part of its coverage area.
