Townshend's youth sports run through the West River Good Sports Program, a volunteer-coached community program based at Townshend Elementary School that serves families in Townshend, Newfane and Jamaica with fall soccer, winter basketball, and spring T-ball, baseball and softball. No separate town recreation department or other youth sports club was found for Townshend.
