Bar Harbor's youth teams play through Acadian Youth Sports, the Mount Desert Island regional league for football, baseball, softball, basketball and golf, and through the MDI YMCA, which runs a rec soccer/basketball league, volleyball, a running club and the Sharks swim team. The town's own Parks & Recreation department maintains the ball fields and courts but does not run its own youth sports leagues.
