Millinocket is a small former mill town (pop. roughly 4,000) in Maine's Katahdin region. Its Recreation Department runs a shared program with the neighboring East Millinocket and Medway recreation departments, maintaining a baseball field, two softball fields, a basketball court, tennis courts, a pool and a sliding hill with a rope tow; the town says its programs are free but a research pass could not confirm dated, currently-open seasonal sign-ups online — call the office to enroll. Older kids also play interscholastic sports (football, field hockey, basketball, baseball, softball) at Stearns Jr/Sr High School, which is not open community registration.
